Open Bargain Corner Day - 2011

Nov. 23, 2010 - PHOTO:  Aldore was able to get into his wheelchair with the aid of a sling lift and go over to the Fisher House (photo taken in the livingroom) where Barbara stays when in Miami.  (She also cooks him good homemade food there!)

Barbara wrote:  The boots are to keep his feet in the correct position and to prevent drop foot.  He still has paralysis from the waist down, but is able to wiggle his toes on the right foot.  His back has healed from the surgery to remove the infection from the spinal cord, and the last 2 blood cultures have shown a negative for the MRSA.  He continues to receive industrial-strength antibiotics, and will continue to receive them until the infectious disease Dr. feels it is time to stop.  They have started therapy and strength training to teach him to handle the wheelchair and maneuver around the house.  The Dr. says he's a tough ol' bird!
We both appreciate all the concern, cards, prayers, well wishes and caring thoughts, and he sends his thanks to all and is anxious to get home.
