ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS




8-BALL LEAGUE -  League Rules approved 2/10/2010:
* The Weekly competition will be held Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
* Each member participating will pay a $2.00 fee when registering for the evening's competition.
* The eight ball competition will be between randomly selected teams.
* Once teams are selected, no additional players will be accepted.
* Team members shall alternate shots.
* Each member of the winning team will receive eight points for the first game. Winners' points will increase by one additional point for each game played (9, 10, 11, etc.). Each member of the losing team will receive one point for each ball made.
* In the event of a tie, the players tied for high score will "lag" to determine a winner. Closest to the head-rail wins.
* $10.00 of the purse will be withheld as prize money for the monthly tournament to be held on the first Tuesday of each month.
* One-half of the evening's prize money will go to the winner. The balance will be distributed in $5.00 (more or less) increments by random drawing from the remaining players.
* The senior officer present shall have the final say in resolving any disputes.




 BINGO - Meets every Thursday (beginning Nov. 18) at 7:00 p.m.  at Main Hall.  Come early to purchase your cards; play as many cards as you are able.  We play a variety of fun games for cash prizes.  Bring a beverage, and a snack for yourself or to share. Chris Zuker chairs Bingo (978-270-6882).




 BREAKFEAST - John, Linda and Crew will be serving up  breakfast two Sunday's a month. Check the “Calendar” or “Activity Updates” page.  Come and enjoy pancakes, bacon sausage for $3.50 This is the best Breakfeast you can find.


 BRIDGE - Open to players of all levels...they'll even teach you to play.  Mondays and Thursdays at 1:00 MH.  

                CANASTA - Hand-and-Foot   Men and women -- we all play Hand-and-Foot, Thursdays at 1:00 in Baker Hall.  Always room for one more, and we will gladly teach (or re-teach) you how to play!  The object is to collect sets of 7 cards exactly alike, or with wild cards.  How simple is that?  Contact Connie Antonellis (508-685-4295) or Lynn Parkis (518-852-8674) with questions.





DOMINOES -  Men and women play Train Dominoes, with 4 or 5 players at a table.  Your choice of "number" Dominoes or "pip" Dominoes.  Printed rules are available.  Fridays at 1:00 in Baker Hall.  Lynn Parkis (518-852-8674) or Connie Antonellis (508-685-4295) can answer questions.




      
 EXERCISE - Low impact Fitness Exercises - Mon., Wed. and Fri. at 9:00 a.m. in Main Hall.  Come and check us out!  Led by Wendy Kirk.


  HORSESHOES - 9:00 M-F at the Horseshoe Court on Billy III Ave.   Al Robinson (772-388-1488) can answer questions.




       OSTEO EXERCISE - Strength and Balance Exercise for men and women, Tues., Wed. and Sat. at 9:00 in Main Hall.  No twisting, no bouncing … just slow, gentle movements sitting or standing next to a chair.  Get the stiff out!  Join instructors Nancy James (Tues., Wed.) and  Ruth Thorpe (Sat.).

Sports collection - Petanque - 3d characters isolated on...PETANQUE 
(pay-tonk) - Monday thru Friday at 3:00 in front of Baker Hall.
      Pétanque is similar to Bocci.  
In Pétanque, steel balls are tossed as close as possible to a small wooden ball target.  
To add to the fun,  there is “fanny kissing” for those unfortunate enough to lose this game 13-0.  Check out the instructions for Pétanque on another page of this site. Play  
     Beginners, just show up and join in!  Gilles Brouillard is chair (772-918-4904).


PICKLEBALL - New in 2012 Pickleball is a racquet sport combining elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis, played on 1/4 of a tennis court.  The game is played with a hard pattle, and a "wiffle ball."
Play Tuesdays and Saturdays at 3:00.  
  
       
PING-PONG -  Ladder System competition.  You can learn to play by joining.  Players will play two games a week.  All the equipment is available.  Each sub-section would consist of three players, moving up the ladder or down, depending on the results of the games.  Sign up is usually in Main Hall during December.  Questions should be directed to Jane Ovenden, 772-581-4089 or Rick Zuker 978-270-6882. 
     When the Ladder games are not going on, the Ping-Pong table in Baker Hall is open for anyone to practice on.  Paddles and balls are with the table.        
     The Ping-Pong table is now being left open instead of being closed up.  Please keep large tables and chairs away from that end of Baker Hall to accommodate the ping-pong players. 


RED HATS - The Park has two Red Hat groups, neither of which are Social Club sanctioned, but so fun they’re described here.  
"Whispering Palms Whisperers" - Queen Mother is Linda Rhyme, 772-581-4574.





"Crimson Queens" - Queen Mother is Wendy Kirk, 772-918-4069.  Wendy says, "Please join us for as many events as you can!" 
     "Whispering Palms Whisperers"  are mostly full-time Park residents, but welcome any Red Hatter to join their activities.  They meet the 1st. Saturday of each month to plan that month's activities.  
     "Crimson Queens" have planned most of this season's activities, but may add more along the way.  
     You may find dates and outings for both groups listed in "Activity Updates."



SHUFFLEBOARD - 
Fun Shuffle: Mondays at 10:00 "just for fun" and practice.  Everyone welcome.  
50-cent Shuffle: Thursdays at 10:00.  Players put 50-cents in the pot; players on the winning Yellow or Black team take home $1.  Everet and Yvonne Taylor chair Shuffleboard (772-388-3863).

SHUFFLEBOARD LEAGUE - Always looking for new members!  League practices Mondays 12:30, games at Home or Away are on Wednesdays.  Just show up, or contact Yvonne or Everet Taylor (772-388-3863).






STAINED GLASS - Meets every Tuesday 1:00-3:00 at Baker Hall. Step-by-step instruction make this craft easy and fun for beginners  Experienced folk always welcome too. Everything you'll need is supplied - patterns, glass, tools, safety equipment. Learn to design your project, cut glass, & solder. Instructor Lynn Parkis will hold your hand all the way. A glass fee of $5 plus a weekly $2 fee are collected. We've been spending the fees for special tools and glass.


     
WATER EXERCISE - 
Meets every Tues. and Thurs. 10:30-11:15 in North Pool when water temp. is at least 80 degrees F., and air temp. is at least 65 degrees F. (without a north wind). You may want to bring 2 water bottles or swim barbells, a noodle or ski belt. Feel free to come without or without these items as the class is very flexible and you will be exercising at your own level. Jump in and enjoy this exciting fitness program that is making a splash across the globe. Yolande Riopel is our instructor (772-228-8058).
